who are your parents, britney spears? i have never heard of anyone objecting to using a carseat. and why don't they respond to guilt--like, if the child gets hurt or killed in your care simply bc you refused to use a carseat, won't it just kill you? very weird. it's not like you are objecting to their feeding the kids non-organic food or letting them watch tv. this is serious. |
so funny you mention Britney Spears, because I even used her as an example. With my Dad, lots of things don't stick. He's not a bad person, just aloof and very old fashioned. To this day he asks me if I want a soda, and I have been telling him since I was 4 that I don't drink soda. Things just don't sink in. So that said, I would never leave my kids with my Dad. My mom is sharper, but she is forgetful sometimes (as am I, but not about carseats). They get it now, but it took me getting mad and equipping each car for them to get it. I guess since they never used carseats when I was growing up, they don't think about it like we do. |
I own a lot of car seats as well for the same reason. Plus we keep an extra car with 2 car seats permanently installed at our house and every family member has a key to it (as does the nanny) so that car is always a backup. For our infant, we have one car seat and 4-6 bases (not sure) b/c we assume she will always be with the car seat. The nice thing about the extra car is that the seats are never removed and I get them checked periodically by MoCo seat check. That is generally the car that the kids are transported in. |
