| Natalya, check with FCPS school board. They have several SN children from Russia and FSU. I know there's a Ukrainian boy in my son's kindergarten class and he receives services. His English is pretty limited. |

my DS had a speech delayed, he still has, not as severe, but we have been in ST for about 5 years now. At the beginning, my goal was to have him communicate. we worked with a ST that only speaks English, she has been our private T. At school he had several, English speakers as well. At home, I speak to him in Spanish most of the time. We read books, watch some short videos, and etc. We do not have relatives in the area that speak the language, but as Spanish is largely spoken here, he has had exposure to it outside of home, not much, but some. Fast forward, he is 7 and is bilingual. Once he started speaking, he spoke both languages. English is his 1st choice, but is able to communicate in Spanish as well (spoken, reading, and is now interested in writing it too).
I hope that OP finds the support that is looking for, but is she is not able to do so, continue with what you already are doing, speaking, reading, in a different language will help. Best wishes. |
