I also recommend that you get the 4G. You don't have to sign a contract and can turn the service on and off as needed. I love my iPad for when I'm waiting at the doctor's office, car repair place, riding in the car, etc., where wi-fi is not always available.

Get the 64 if you're going to use it for lots of video. Movies eat memory.

Finally, if you get it for DH, don't count on being able to use it much. I wanted one, and talked my husband into buying one for "us.". He is now addicted to it, so I went and bought another for myself. Luckily, dc prefers my MacBook.
