Stopping taking the pill after years - what to expect?

To 21:36 poster--it's not true that your cycles when you go off the pill are necessarily like they were before you went on. I had completely regular cycles before I went on the pill at 18. I went off the pill at 28 and had 3 regular cycles followed by a 2-month cycle followed by a 7-week cycle, and then I didn't get my period for 5 months! Through blood tests and ultrasounds my doctor identified a hormonal imbalance and ovarian cysts, which were preventing me from ovulating.

some people come off the pill and have no problems. i was not one of them. i was regular when i started in high school but when i went off at age 29 i was having 50-60 day cycles, many of which were anovulatory. PCOS was ruled out after extensive testing. i eventually got pregnant using clomid, but i will never EVER take the pill again.

I think it depends. I just missed two pills and got pregnant. I am now off the pill and very regular, have been since stopping. I hated taking that damn thing every day. I seem to always forget until the middle of the night, then had to get up to take it.

I was on the pill for about 10 years from 20-30. I got off and my cycles were even more exact than before, exactly 28 days and so light/short I wasnt even sure at first it was really my period. I got pregnant month 3 after getting off the pill. Go figure!
