You talk so disrespectfully about unions. I recently moved from NC. A child threw a chair at a teacher at my son's school. Nothing happened. No one did a thing. The kid continued to terrorize the teacher and other students. She just had a black eye. No kidding. A student threw a chair at my mother in MD and the union represented her. The kid got expelled. I really did not appreciate the union until I realized that teachers are completed unprotected in non union states. Trust me, you do not want to be a teacher in NC. |

Seriously. If we have bad teachers, it's because we make the profession so damned unattractive. When we pay enough and enforce some discipline in schools, and we stop badmouthing teachers up and down the line, maybe we can attract more talent.
Why would a self-respecting person want to go into a profession where people say "those who can't .... teach". People make fun of lawyers but then they can make 10x what teachers do. |

lol I agree.. no more democrat "teachers"...no more unions or tenure. If you work your ass off as a teacher and bring out the best in people you get paid a lot. If you got some kind of affirmative action, summers off, weekends off, winter break off, spring break off, every single federal holiday off, snow day off, sick leave off, democrat, union , tenure, Ohhh. and children of democrats (single mothers) who disrupt classes are sent to reform school and out of the mainstream. Kids will learn and teachers will get paid. Morons will be in reform school and unemployed. |

| I'm not going to defend the teacher's behavior, but it sounds to me an awful lot like an obnoxious student picking a fight. And I don't think the teacher was compelled to respond so much b/c it was Obama being attacked but because the student was being so fucking disrespectful in general. Teacher didn't handle it well, but you don't get to tell me the little shit is a victim. |

It's prissy of me to say this, but the country belongs to all of us and we all ought to drop the "take back the country" rhetoric and work on coming to terms with the fact that our differences are not that great and we all want the best for the country and our fellow citizens, even when we disagree on the optimal way to achieve those ends. That was Obama's promise, and I think it is the greatest failing of his prwsidency so far, with much of the blame due the GOP, but not all. |

| The is a case of a teacher losing control of her classroom BECAUSE she was trying to indoctrinate her students to her ideology. She didn't' want to facilitate a discussion. She wanted to talk trash about the republican candidate. I find it astounding that any thinking person--regardless of political persuasion--would defend this woman. |
