Execuse me, I am an assian mom (Indian), I didn't do any preperation.. or cared when he gets accepted or not.. he did.. not all asian parents are prep or tiger parents.. FYI.. |
What's wrong with Asians? |
overrepresented is all. This has been the source of some criticism of the program. |
The point is that marginally qualified kids who are prepped to death to pass those two tests must then be accomodated in the AAP classroom. There is no time to prep them to death for every single assessment they're going to have in the classroom once they're in. So some of them really struggle, and the level has to go down somewhat to fit the average for that classroom. |
[list]Really?! This program is no harder than the regular curriculum. In fact it is exactly the same. Stop kidding yourself. |
the math is a litle more accelerated and the class sizes are bigger, otherwise not much difference. |
That's why the Cluster Superintendent in McLean is seeking to change all of the curriculum in the pyramid -- because it is "exactly the same." LOL! |
[list]Nope same stuff. |
[list]Good luck with that. |

AAP goes into more depth in subject. Same material, but project based approaches.
The material covered is defined by the SOLs |
If it's the same then what's the point of the pool and testing. That's silly, of course it's quite different. Math is two grade levels at once. Expectations are higher in every subject. Let's get real if there wasn't a difference we would't be on this thread right now. And half of FFX county parents wouldn't be trying to get their kids in. |
|
Same? what are you guys talking about? My kid's 3rd grade AAP class skipped entire 3rd grade math and went straight to 4th grade math.
Same for regular classes? |
[list]Yea right! |
[list]I had heard rumours of this and I am very happy to see this pilot happening. The way the AAP is set up now is exclusive and needs to be changed. Bringing Level IV accross the board would be fantastic. I know there are MANY who will fight tooth and nail because they think their children are the only deserving and capable of the "best". But here is what I have to say to them GET OVER YOURSELF! |
