Do you think silhouette cut outs you can have made of your kids are cheesy or cool?

I just bought a donation from Sweetheart Silhouettes at our preschool auction. She is in Arlington.

I think they're classic. IIFC, my parents had ours done at Disneyworld, and they are very high quality.

Am I crazy? I have no idea what this is.

My mom had these done of me and my brother at Disney World 20+ years ago. Mine was well done, but my brother's looked like any random boy. We had them done for our boys at Disney World a couple weeks ago, and they both turned out great. I have 2 boys who are 2yrs apart and look very similar, and everyone who has seen them can tell them apart in the silhouettes. You can also have them done of your whole family. They sort of stack the silhouettes.

Actually, I think they can be kind of cool in an etsy way. Plus, it's fun to have something different from the standard b/w shots of the kids barefoot in white polos and khakis. And -- your DH wants this, so why not just get them and maybe put them in your bedroom or in an upstairs hallway if they don't look right downstairs. We have a whole photo wall on our upstairs landing going back over 20 years (our kids are teens and college ages) -- our kids and their friends love to see these photos.

I have the ones of my children hanging in our bedroom and love looking at their sweet toddler profiles. As another PP said, the noses are just precious. the lady who does them locally is from Alexandria and she is very talented.

I love them and think they are very classy. My parents had them done of us when we were younger, and the lady cut two pieces of the black paper at the same time, so we ended up with two silouettes each. She kept one of each of us and gave the doubles to my grandparents. When my grandparents recently passed away, each of us (now adults) got the silouette of ourselves. So, now I have mine in our home. It was done when I was about 6-7, I believe. I want to get them done of my DD sometime soon.

I want to add that the frame really makes it even a better thing to have, ask the person doing it what sort of frame they suggest.

They are so cute and classic. I remember my teacher making these in second grade. My mom still has them hanging up in the hallway. They are the only childhood items of ours she still has up.
