Olympic coverage - does it suck or is it just me?

I agree that some sort of nightly spotlight about the other events that happened that day would be great!
I remember as a kid watching all sorts of Olympics events on TV. In 1984 I had a little log book in which I (as a 10 year old) kept a record of all the medal winners that I saw. By the end of the games I had most of the book filled. (My parents restricted most TV but let me go crazy with the Olympics). Also, can somebody please, PLEASE get rid of Bob Costas before the winter games of 2010. He has to be one of the most annoying people on the planet. |

The coverage sucks. Can't stand the Phelps Hagiography.
Today, when we could have been listening to swimming, they were talking about phelps paraphenalia on eBay. I hear there were other countries competing in gymnastics besides the Americans and the chinese. I'm glad I got to see our girls put their bandaids on instead of a nice floor routine - not! |

| Sure it sucks but it is ADDICTIVE. NBC and their instrumental music and heartfelt family stories...it is like an a-hole never did the Olympics. I love how NO ONE mentions that nasty smog...HAH! It looks GROSS over there...I would stay in that fancy place with Costas the WHOLE time...yuck. Lame but awesome. And, for the record, I am sick of Phelps (although not of his body) |

I agree. I'm sure there is a plethora of qualified people to be commentators. I really don't like him, personality, lame comments, looks. Blah. Who did he sleep with to get the job? Why does NBC keep using him? |

I completely agree with OP. I am a little frustated that I don't get to see other sports and other countries! Besides a think the commentators are way to biased!

And not just see the other countries, but
How about the games we don't normally see? Like the US field hockey team. First time in years we've qualified, and all I got to see was them having a party with their parents. Maybe watch them play? Maybe see a game between two of the international powerhouses? Or maybe some sport I've never heard of? |

PP - I agree. Andrea Kramer really gets on my nerves. I hate how she asks the same question over and over again in an interview.
But, I LOVE Bob Costas! He really cracks me up. Especially when they were showing Bella Karolyi watching gymnastics. |

| What I hate is the focus on the Medal Count. Big deal-- I'd rather see athletes from other countries and hear other national anthems than listen to the blather about whether Americans or Chinese have more medals. I bet you'd find a gender split on this issue however. The best part for me so far was the opening ceremony. Am I wrong or did they not focus on the blasted Medal Count so much in earlier Olympics (way earlier -- like 20 years ago). |
