| Not to pile on, but with modern communications, being "out of the country" is really no biggie. Unless you are somewhere only reachable by sat phone or something. Otherwise being out of the country should be business as usual. |
OP HERE - Yes, you are both right. I am humbled by this experience and I realize how self-centered I really am. This has been such an eye opening experience for me. I really just wanted to know what others have done in the past. I did get a few helpful suggestions such as inform the school and turn in my paper work before I leave the country. I will be backpacking through India/Nepal with my family, and wanted to cherish the time. But, I see the light now and I realize how entitled I feel. I will self reflect on this moment and improve my ways through yoga and meditation. Thanks for letting me see the light. OM, OM, OM |
HAHAHA I didn't think OP was an entitled ass until this post. |

I don't think is OP an ass, just hoping to find a way to be somewhat normal in an atmosphere that is anything but.
Those of us who have lived in other places understand that processes are not always so intense, but, having lived here in DC for almost 8 yrs, I have to say sorry, OP -- both for the indignant responses and the fact that, unfortunately, you won't be able to check out this summer. I know the pleasure of being able to put technology on hold for a few weeks, and that would have been great on your trip. Hopefully you'll hear something before or shortly after you leave. GL! |
| DCUM is a rough playground. |
| Ignore these uncultured yahoos, OP. You received some good suggestions. Have fun on your trip - I'm jealous! |
