There are most definitely swings at Westover Park. |
OP here. I don't want to avoid playgrounds with swings forever. I just want to find a few without swings, so DC can learn to enjoy some other things. Then when we go back to our regular playground, maybe she won't be so hung up on being on the swings the entire time. As it stands, she doesn't give anything else a try. I could let her have a meltdown, but it still wouldn't get her to enjoy other types of playground equipment. |

My son went through a similar phase. If he wasn't in the swing, he was stalking the swings. My answer was to only go to playgrounds we could walk to - and he had to walk there (at the time, the small hike was a lot for him). If you can't walk, maybe try to park far enough away.
I may be wrong, but I think Clay park is swingless: Henry Clay Park 3011 7th St. N. Arlington, VA 22201 And not really a huge playground, but it has a small play ground structure - in Clarendon - where all the shops are (the Crate and Barrel) - in the U-shape. No swings there. Decent structure for little ones (again, not huge, but room enough for a little one to let out some energy). |

I live right near Key school (Veitch and Wilson) and there are no swings. I'd check into some of the elementary school playgrounds.
I don't know if it would work for your LO or not, but try bringing a ball with you. That usually can get my 2.5 yo guy going... |
There are swings at that playground. You must be thinking of a different school. |
