Jamestown and Taylor are no longer accepting transfers due to overcrowding. ASFS is still accepting transfer requests from Taylor and Jamestown, but I believe spots are very limited for InTeam transfers.

I think so. The magnet schools are being made to pick up the slack b/c of crowding at Jamestown, Nottingham, etc.

is it accurate to call ASFS & ATS magnet schools? ASFS is largely neighborhood based with inteam transfers, if i'm not mistaken.

I heard that somewhere about 20 to 30 slots were open at Science Focus, for in-team transfer students. No official confirmation.

ATS letter arrived today -- no space for us and near 100 on the wait list. not bloody likely, i think they'd call it.

Our letter also arrived today....we're in the 160's on the waitlist! It must be a long waitlist...

Anyone have any idea how many applicants there were this year for ATS? How about Science Focus - do they also have a long waitlist (for In Team transfers)? I'd love to hear from others who were on the waitlist for either of these schools and got in - what was your number on the waitlist and how long was the wait? TIA

We're in the 70s on the waitlist and I wouldn't expect we'll get off of it any time soon!

What is the furthest spot on the waitlist where you can expect a reasonable chance before September- the first 10... I expect? And do always all VPI kids take their spot- or do those become open to the waitlist, due to a move for example?

Sort of unrelated but has anyone heard about Arlington Montessori lottery? I'm surprised the kindergarten one is out already but we haven't heard peep about Montessori. Does it take longer?

269 applicants for ATS this year and we are not increasing class size. K classes have Arlington max of 24 kids every year. 4 K classes next year too!

Really? I thought ATS had a bunch of trailers. The seats for students plan was going to add 12 classrooms, too, so I'm surprised ATS isn't expanding now rather than all in a rush.

The current K class and next year K class are all 4 class groupings vs 3 for the rest of the school so they have added classes. Also, the 12 room addition will not be all class rooms. Some will be support.
