Perhaps, but OP has a 2nd grader so she's not trying to plan the next 8-12 years, just to see whether OP might be an option for her DC for 5th or 6th grade. It sounds like probably not an option.

I think it really depends on the kid. Do you think your middle-school kid would thrive in a small school environment with 20-50 other kids in his/her class, or would they be better off in a class of 100-200? Both have advantages and disadvantages, and it may be very difficult to know the answer when your child is only in 2nd grade.

I thought it was a two year lease? Not trying to start any rumors...newly accepted family here and I would love it to stay at the new location. Maybe a current family can chime in here.

The lease is for 2 years. My understanding is that the building is large enough to house the whole school as it grows to capacity, so it MAY stay, but nothing is set beyond the 2 year lease. However, they are planning to build a playground next year which makes me think/hope they're expecting to be there beyond 2 years.

Although the school may stay at the new location more than 2 years, keep in mind there are several buildings that will be coming up for grabs in the next few years, so it is also possible they will make a bid for an old DCPS building.
