9 and 12 yo - both have iPod touch. They love them. They do not have phones. I hesitated but bought them for xmas.
They can text and call for free from a place with wifi. They text their grandparents now. Very cute. They have games and music. They can google, etc. They have an app that reads books to them. They have learning disabilities so this app is great for us. I know older kids that have research apps. |
What's the name of the book-reading app? |
No, but we only have one, 4. He has an iPad so he'll leave our iPhones alone. |
We got 2 iPads and they are great for traveling, movies, games and books. |
We got our kids iPod Touches from Santa at age 5y and 6y. They have a mix of fun games (Angry Birds) and educational games (and yes, they do choose to play the educational games too!) They have come in handy so many times when we've had long waits and they really are responsible for them.
We opted for the Touches vs the DS because of the cost of games, but now they are saving their money to get the DS. Sigh. |
Learning ally Btw - today they r playing words with friends - actually words with cousins - which is awesome since they have language based learning issues. |

Words With Friends is basically the same thing as Scrabble. |
My four-year-old has my old one, now that I have a smartphone. It's just movies and games, and she only ever uses it on long car rides. Lifesaver. |
