Does your child know mine? Somedays I think eating lunch may turn into eating dinner

I had no idea that I could not post without my language being picked apart. I meant LESS. You may mean fewer. I still meant LESS. |
preparation? |
| We will this fall because there is no public pre-K option in our area. We'll see after that - we have very good local public schools, and my hope is that they'll work for our child. |

| Prefer single gender education for DD. |
Well, you might have meant LESS, but fewer is right. I learned that in public school, by the way. To the PP who posted the link, many thanks! |
You mean your wording. |
| In all honestly, most kids can not only handle but can thrive in a 22 person class at K. So really most people go private either because they want to hold a spot for high school, or they just want a smaller, more exclusive, self selecting group to hang out with and they don't care about exposing their children to diversity. |
or that the academic curriculum in private beats that of public even class sizes are different in either direction - "diversity" in mcps has now become synonymous will lower standards and expectations - thanks to MCEA and dr. starr et al. |
I never understand why people think public schools are more diverse than private schools. Our private school strives to have race, religious, and socio-economic diversity. Our public school pulls from kids who live around the school who are pretty much the same type of kids. No diversity at our public. |

It would be instructive to compare the outcomes of public and private education systems. Are kids graduating from private schools better thinkers and problem solvers than their public counterparts? Is it the case that private school graduates can write and speak better? Are they better versed in social and cultural issues? Are they more knowledgeable in math and science areas? ...
After all is said and done, it seems to me that such differences between the two groups of cohorts is not significant. |

My children are happy in their private. The idea of lecture classes and no sports would make them miserable on a daily basis. They have multiple recesses, sports, band, art and a very flexible curriculum to meet their needs.
They look forward to going to school. It's not about the goal or the outcome - it is about the journey. That is why we are at our specific private. They may not even get that experience at another private so it not just private vs. public, it's their school vs. the rest. |
