for me, i gained weight b/c i put my life on hold. horrible thing for me to do. fortunately i didn't gain that much...who knows, maybe it was the meds too. that would be a nice excuse. |
I put on about 10 lbs during the IVF cycles (on the 4th one now). Part of it was from less excercise. It's hard to find the time between all the doctor appointments, acupuncture, etc. And I was told to take the excersice down a notch during a cycle. Part of it was from stress eating, which I know is not good. I'm sure the all the meds have something to do with it too.
But there's nothing like a big bowl of mashed potatoes after a day of being poked and prodded. ![]() I'm trying to be better about low impact excercise (walking uphill) but also not beating myself up too badly about it during this time. I lost the weight after each cycle by excercising more and cutting back on the stress eating. |
I gained twenty pounds over the course of three cycles. Doctor said the hormones make women eat more, but that was not my experience and if anything, I exercised more rather than less. I think the hormones must affect the metabolism because for me the weight gain was real and not water weight.
Oddly, I didn't gain a pound until the third trimester when I finally got pregnant. It was as if the pregnancy changed my hormones enough that my body finally started burning calories again. |
I put on about 6 pounds between two IVF cycles. Had OHSS with both. Second cycle was successful though, so didn't mind! My first trimester weight gain looked like a lot though with those pounds. I'm now 5 weeks post pregnancy and suspect those 6 pounds will be the hardest to lose! |
i didn't gain anything but once I got pregnant i was showing quiet soon and my doctor said it was the progesterone I was taking. I looked pregnant quiet soon and I'm very thin/lean/small bones and flat tummy, but I was showing!!! My Dr. kindly told me to get over it and get used to it! She was right =) |
I actually lost 10 lbs pretty effortlessly when I went on BCPs prior to IVF #1. They found me again during IVF #2, but as I'm gearing up for cycle #3, I am down 11 lbs. Very strange as it has always been extremely difficult for me to lose weight! |
I have gained 20lb; however this was a combination of ivf meds, hypothyroidism which is a bit difficult to control when taking hormonal drugs and than I go pregnant and lost pregnancy after 7wk.
Also I wasn't exercising or been too careful what I ate. Either way I was not able to lose more than 5 lb afterwards... so I would say hormonal bomb was way too difficult for me to manage. Now I am at my 2ww with second ivf and will be taking care of weight when I have time and opportunity to reduce/skip my meals and start regular exercise. |
I also gained about 10 pounds during two cycles but went back to my normal weight post-pregnancy.
The worst part was my boss guessed I was pregnant at 9 weeks because I was so bloated. |
