I also delivered at GT about 3 months ago and was, for the most part, very happy. I saw Dr. Yuri Prikoupenko and he was GREAT. Easy to talk to and I feel like I received excellent care. Also, I had pretty severe tearing during the birth, and Dr. Yuri referred me to a great physical therapist who is working with me on repairing scar tissue and pelvic floor strength. I know people who had tearing and still have problems and never know PT was an option. I feel fortunate to havew received such good care from Dr. Yuri.

I delivered my daughter at GU ~2.5 yrs ago & I had a great experience - of course, I was followed by Dr. Landy - the chief of the entire dept & she was wonderful. She's warm, caring , thorough & reassuring. Unfortunately, things changed there & the high-risk patients aren't followed solely by the MFM's. Now the MFM's just consult & we have to see the low-risk OB. I'm due to deliver my 2nd child soon at GU & have seen several low risk OB's there. I have to agree with the posters who said they had bad experiences with Dr. Bowles- Johnson & Dr. Breen.
I saw Dr. Bowles- Johnson for an annual exam & she was SO RUDE!!! She rushed me, didn't listen to a word I said, spoke condescendingly towards me & when I told her that I was trying to conceive again, she gave me a response that she should give a teenage girl, saying that she doesn't recommend me conceiving at this time. #1: not her business (no medical basis for her response , just her personal opinion) #2: Not knowing (or caring) that I had a history of having trouble attaining & maintaining a pregnancy without medical intervention. Otherwise, I'm sure her medical skills are fine - but she's definitely a cold clinician. Dr. Breen I saw for one OB/GYN visit a few months ago. She was generally ok, but I couldn't stand the tone she took with me. #1 - she didn't listen to me too much either. #2 - She called me 'hun' & 'sweetie' several times. Hello?!? Are we in a diner or a we at a medical exam?!? Don't 'hun' me & think you'll get away with it!!! It's just plain rude! Dr. Fanale - he's OK no complaints. But nothing exciting. Dr. Yuri - happens to be my favorite of the Dr's I've seen so far. Competent, personable, kind...overall nice guy & good doctor. Although he's a little rushed sometimes, I always get a chance to voice my complaints & questions. He keeps up on the research in his field & if I have a question that relates to something he read, he shares it with me. He never disregards my feelings - he seems very compassionate/ empathetic. Too bad I didn't see him from the beginning of the pregnancy - better late than never - I guess. I've heard seen Dr. Colie once - she seemed nice, but very rushed. The nurses were generally nice to me when I delivered 2.5 yrs ago (I hope to have a good experience again this time around) & the med students never bothered me - the Dr.'s always asked my permission before they brought in students & the students were always respectful. Overall, I'm quite happy with GU in that I feel that the Dr.'s are very proactive & they communicate well with each other. I have several specialists there that need to communicate with each other on my plan of care & they each have a great work-ethic & are caring/ compassionate human beings (not just mindless clinical automatons). |
