Avoid bold patterns. I would also recommend avoiding too much white as several photogs have issues with white balance. Above all, make sure you're all comfortable with what you're wearing because you don't want to be tugging or adjusting throughout the shoot.

I put my boys in matching plaid button up tops in shades of blue, very simple pattern. I wore a teal top and we all wore jeans.
