Because a joke about a white first lady...

""Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?" De Niro asked at the top of his remarks at Locanda Verde restaurant as the crowd yelled “no.” “Too soon, right?," he said."

oh my goodness. How in the world is that so offensive? Beyond believing this is not at all offensive and is a funny play on the same type of question posed about Michelle before Obama was elected....it is totally different to make comments about public figures like the possible future FL - vs. calling a private citizen a whore. A private citizen who simply testifies before congress doesn't overnight become a public figure deserving of any potshots an entertainer wants to toss out.

Further GOP manipulation of minor Dem comments to excuse Limbaugh's insulting rant. Since when is it an insult for a white man to call someone else white??!

its ok to make white jokes, but not black jokes?
or you shouldnt be making any race jokes when it comes to politics.

i am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are way more intelligent and sophisticated to understand why if someone make the joke about a black first lady how that wouldnt work.

lets assume for one second that deniro was speaking at a GOP fundraiser when obama was running and said the joke in reverse. considering the fact we've had nothing but white first lady's since the beginning of time, the joke would come off as insensitive and touching on a real life question about the readiness of the country for a black first lady. a whole can of worms would be open.

now to present day. tell me in all seriousness how is it offensive for deniro to ask the question he did in joking when 43 first lady's before obama have been white? its a joke that plays on the very notion you are asking about regarding a joke about the country being ready for a first black lady. its innocent as hell but you want to have this faux outrage because you need a tit for tat on what happened with limbaugh right

920 again, to avoid the obvious response i assume ill get that will take the conversation off track since thats what folks like to do, assume deniro made the joke in reverse at a hillary fundraiser and not a GOP one when obama was running. the outrage would still be the same. its not about party in my example....
