Can a DC resident pay to attend Pyle middle school?

$14000 is not lower than most private schools - it is lower than some private schools.

I'm sure people will be excited to hear about all these good middle schools for under $14k. Please share.

Aren't most Catholic elementary schools under $14K?

Are you serious? Yes, there are a few that are okay - but "great" in comparison with MCPS? Please.

Exactly! What a waste of money -- Pay for a public school, to be in overcrowded classes..?? !! ?? Really??

yup

My son's preschool (tuition on a PT schedule) is more than my daughter's Catholic school tuition.

I would never pay tuition for any public school, and I'm in a public system.

Why not move to Montgomery County? Pay our taxes, then your child can go to a public school..

Waiting for the housing market to recover before we move to MoCo. While we might prefer to send child to private school in DC, our child didn't get in anywhere this year. So looking for other options.

There might be room at our middle school, and it is a reasonably good one. If you are interested, I could send you an email about it. Is there a way on dcurbanmom.com to send a private reply (just to you) that I am not spotting? (all I saw was the general reply button I used to post this). I would be happy to discuss the pros and cons of my child's school with you but I don't want to blast them all over cyberspace.

Where do you live now and where are you looking to buy? If you want to buy in the Pyle district, that market has already recovered and is strengthening. You might save more on the buy side if you suck it up and sell now - loss on the selling side can be negated by saving on the buying side before prices increase more.

Why would I pay more for my child to sit in a math class repeating work finished 2 years ago. At least the child has an opportunity to take a placement test in MCPS and get a better placement fit.

Maybe the OP is waiting for the market to recovery where he/she lives in order to sell their house for a reasonable price? Not all the markets in DC area (as we know) are as strong as Pyle/Whitman.
