If you are/have been on ADD meds as an adult, please chime in

07:05 here, I should add I am VERY sensitive to stimulants. I don't drink soda or coffee because it makes me shaky, anxious and nauseous

Then 7:05 I don't think the meds are for you!

I feel alert and can be MUCH more productive on it, but I have trouble falling asleep. I would feel very happy/buzzed like I could handle any amount of work, and cleaning of the house to prep for family and anything else, but it also sometimes made me irritable. Beware of having a cup of coffee when taking stimulants-double whammy.

I started on a teeny tiny dose and within a few months needed to increase. I do think your body adjusts to a degree. I didn't keep increasing. In fact I would get off it for as long as I could so my body would re-calibrate and I wouldn't need as much med when I tried it again.

can i just ask how you were getting adderall with "undiagnosed" ADD?

I was recently diagnosed with ADD and I am taking 15 mg Adderall XR and I also have a script for 5 mg IR if I feel I need to refocus in the afternoons. The meds have been amazing and I am just so pissed that I didn't do anything about it before this. It's been amazing. Not that I am instantly organized, but I have seen a noticeable difference in how I approach things. And it helps me stay focused and on task with my kids. It's astounding how much a stimulant calms my brain.

have any of you noticed a similar calm/focus when taking benadryl allergy medicine. When I've taken it in the past for a cold/allergies this was an surprising side effect.

I took Ritalin as a child -- refused to take them when I reached high school.

I went back on after graduating from law school and joining a large law firm.

Ritalin works well for me. And I like that it has a long history that is pretty much problem free.

10:13 again - I also like that Ritalin lasts longer, because I need the extra concentration while at work. For me, I find that I am more creative when the Ritalin is done for the day. I get some of my best ideas in the late afternoon / evenings, and I do my best writing in the mornings.

Hmmm, no. Benadryl just knocks me out. Adderall somehow gives me more energy but also more calm and focus.
