Am 23 weeks and have period like cramps and its so annoying all I do is drink plenty of water and rest |
I had the same thing around 23-25 weeks; for me it was round ligament pain and B-H. If the cramping doesn't go away with drinking water/lying down/taking a warm bath or shower, I'd definitely call your doctor. Mine said that since I was able to have a normal conversation without gasping for air or struggling to speak because of contractions or anything like that, he wasn't really worried.
I did get a sono at one point so they could look at my cervix and it was fine. I continue to have B-H (I mean I think it's B-H, this is my first too), but for me it's more discomfort and my belly getting hard than any pain or cramping. |
NP here. OP I too am a person that had mild BH like cramps and it ended up being preterm labor at 23 weeks. I was fully dilated and 100% effaced by the time that I went in. I did not feel anything that would have really indicated that - I assumed I was dehydrated. Even if they are not intense, it is better to be safe than sorry. You cant make your decision off of other people's experiences because we are all different and PTL, regular aches and pains will vary for each person. In my case, I ended up being admitted into the hospital and delivering early.
If you go to a dr, they will do a physical exam to be sure everything looks ok with your cervix, and they can also hook you up to a machine that monitors your contraction levels. I was feeling contractions on an 8 but felt like a 2 to me. Everyone's pain threshold is different. Good luck and best wishes to you. |
PP again. Just wanted to say that any ER can also do the above - you go the Labor & Delivery unit of the hospital where you would deliver and they will notifiy your practice's doctor on call. You can get all of the tests done there too. They will always tell you, it is better to be safe than sorry! I promise they won't be annoyed (neither will you) when everything turns out OK. But if there is something going on, you want to be in the best environment for both you and your baby's health. |
I had BH that sometimes felt like period cramps from 22 weeks onward. I mentioned them to the OB at my next appointment and she checked my cervix then and 4 weeks later to ensure there were no changes. There weren't and though I've had steady/occasionally very bad BHs from that point on, I'm now 38 weeks and not dilated at all! Basically, get it checked, but don't freak out. |
I have been having them for three days and I noticed that stress and when I tense up does it to me. I work the jewelry counter at Walmart so I can't really rest much except at home where my husband makes sure that I'm resting. My lil boy is still kicking and moving tho oh and I noticed it does it when I have to pee. |
