If you don't use creole seasoning regularly, you can get spicy V-8. It's also great for poaching fish in.

OP here - thanks. Think I will use frozen veggies. I am definitely using cartons of chicken broth, trying to cut down on my canned foods as much as possible. Some great tips and if anyone has more simple soup recipes I'd love to have them.

I made a pumpkin black bean soup recently from Rachel Ray's cookbook that turned out well, but that is the only other soup I've made. This forum has been hugely helpful to me!
