| Not sure why you are more strict when the child is sick. The child not be home often due to sickness so no harm in a little tv watching. If they are really sick, they will just end up sleeping through the tv shows anyways. |
| OP, it sounds like you may be trying to counter issues of malingering. If your kids are sick, they're sick. Give them a break. If there trying to skip school for other reasons, figure out the reason. |

I thought of this post today. My son woke up with a sore throat, he's kinda clammy, and listless-yet-overwraught. Definitely doesn't belong in school.
He's going to watch TV probably all day when he isn't dozing. Seems like the right approach, and the best way to keep him still while his body fights the virus. He looks like crap, so why on earth should he have to prove to me he really is sick? |
This is our unspoken rule. I mean I've just said no when they've asked for TV or devices--IPAD, etc. |
| When my middle school son wakes up clammy and overWROUGHT I just call it Tuesday and pack his lunch. |
No, he does not. He is lying on the living room couch (with his bong). |

| shoot, it's not funny when I post it twice--damn you slow rendering MacBook! |
Yeah, it was funnier the first time. I did enjoy the post (and it is my son who is overwraught today). He really is sick today, but I'll be thinking of you many a' tuesday. |
| If you were home sick, wouldn't you just want to watch some tv and rest? Why in the heck would you tell them no? I don't get it? |
|
OP,
What are you hoping to teach or accomplish with this one? |
| My whole household (five of us) was hit big time last week with a horrendous stomach bug. We don't have a TV and normally go several days without even watching a video. But we sure had Netflix streaming on the laptops for three days straight during this episode! When I was running to the bathroom, I was happy to have my equally sick kids planted in front of something that would hold their attention and keep them resting. |
| We do this. Keeps kids thinkIng staying home is more fun. |
