Please suggest a restuarant with GOOD beer in MD

Mussel Bar in Bethesda has a lot of Belgian beer (and also a limited menu and less kid friendly).

Freddy's is great! DH and I stumbled on it last weekend. I was amazed to find a place that actually stocked Samiclaus. Samiclaus is a beer brewed at one brewery only on the 6th of December every year and aged for months before it's sold. I first heard about it 10 years ago. The only place I've been to with a bigger beer list was a bar in Milwaukee.

I love Freddy's but it is pretty tough to eat healthy there. Everything is deep fried or smothered in mayonaise.

I know one of the owners of Brewer's Art. He'll be tickled when I tell him about this thread...

Tell him I said gods all bless him and his Resurrection Ale!

I forwarded him a link to this thread. Hopefully he'll drop in and see the comments himself.

I hate Belgian beer. All the candy sugar, spicy off-flavors, etc, etc.. Just as Celine Dion is music for people who hate music, Belgian beer is basically beer for people who hate beer. There, I said it.

And the side-effect of its ridiculous over-popularity in the US is that you can hardly find a decent pint of English ale anywhere.

Thanks everyone! I checked in the fridge and we are down to 2 bottles and both are from FlyingDog and belgian. I remember him once saying he likes some of the beer from flying dog. I don't know what else he likes and he usually buys. But he definitely likes to go out and try new beers. (I tried FD brewery tour but that is booked until May)

The OP didnt say anything about good beer AND healthy eats. Fried food once in a while isn't going to kill you. It's when it's everyday that's bad.

That's because you tried only the fruity Belgian beer. It's like listening to Celine Dion and saying you hate American music. (or Canadian?)

That Flemish sour stuff's even worse. Okay, I'll concede that DeKonnick is pretty good. And some of the less showboaty ales. But overall Belgian's overrated compared to a nice British "real ale".
