Do you use baking soda or baking powder?

Ugh, I bought the tressemme stuff and I cannot stand the smell. I just bought B2B or something like that (in a big yellow canister, just bought it at rite aid on friday) and the smell is much less offensive than Tresseme. I'm going to try the cocoa powder trick, though, b/c I have dark brown hair and I think that sounds way better than these gross aerosols. Especially since I somehow always manage to miss a spot when I brush out my hair, so I end up with a big white clump.

Doesn't work too well for brunettes. I lookes like I had grey hair.

Not quite dry, but highly recommend this for the same purpose.

My husband actually compliments me on the smell.

You have to let it soak in. (I put it on at night). Then rub a towel on my scalp and comb it out. I have black, Indian hair, so I am conscious about the white coming through.

OP here. OK, I bought a can of Tresemme today and it, too, smells like genital masking scent from 1974. YUCK. I am thinking that all commercial canned spray must have this cheap stinky scent for some manufacturing reason. Frankly, commercial "baby" powder also stinks like cheap fragrance to me.

So I am willing to concoct my own unscented powder, I guess, out of baking soda. Thank you for the recipes.

I think Lush has a dry shampoo that is essentially baby powder.

My guess is that most of haven't smelled "genital masking scent from 1974" and therefore don't have the same association.

I always wondered about dry shampoos. I thought people use it for emergencies only (i.e. overslept and don't have time to wash my hair so I'm going to use the dry shampoo). What's the point of putting it at night? Wouldn't you just wash your hair?

Not if, say, you had a blowout a few days earlier and were trying to make it last an extra day.

Green Rootine. I think that's how you spell it. It's a powder with a brush. No FDS-type scent that I am aware of!

Yes! It is the only one that doesn't smell and doesn't leave hair sticky. Jonathan Products Green Rootine: http://www.jonathanproduct.com/product.php?productid=16202&cat=288&page=1

I have dark hair, but Oscar Blandi blends in nicely - and smells great. I always get compliments on how good I smell and I secretly laugh at those people b/c I usually haven't showered that day!!

Because it's actually not good for your scalp to wash every day. If you have oily hair if you need some texture to help an undo stay up, this is a great solution. I use it every other day so that I don't have to wash my hair every day.
