OP, I'm certainly no expert, but I would check out some of the high interest online accounts: http://www.consumerismcommentary.com/best-online-savings-accounts/

Yeah, but then you'd have to drive a Mazda 5. It only seats 6 besides and those back seats area really small. She's better off with a late-model Caravan or Town and Country at that pricepoint. |
| If you can afford to sock away $300 to $500 per month, why are you waiting to buy the van? Interest rate on a car loan isn't really any larger than you'd get in a CD -- maybe 150 basis points or so. |
For me, this is why: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/212074.page To have the insurance check from the totaling of the car go to pay it off rather than buy a new one. |
Isn't Capital One = Bank of America? Hate BofA and will close my account as well! |
Thank you all - OP here. We do have an ING account and was trying to figure if anything else is out there. I guess anything short term only makes pennies. I understand that minivan might cost a lot, probably 30k+. We are aiming to save atleast 10k towards it. The reason we are waiting to buy is because we don't need it right now. We hope to have another kid in two yrs and that is when we will spring for the minivan

| Where do you currently keep your emergency savings? |
| Sorry. There isn't a single van that's $50k. The Honda Touring is low 40's if you are dumb enough to pay sticker. We paid $32 for our 2011 exl Honda (leather, power doors, etc.) |
