The TN legislator is out there.

But it is a terrible waste to jail someone because they were carrying a gun, realized it was illegal and turned it in themselves.

Fine them, sure. But jail them and have the state pay for three years of prison while also preventing this person from being a contributing member of society seems ass backward.

That a black professional football player received a ridiculously overboard punishment doesn't seem to me to be a good reason to give this person a ridiculously overboard punishment too.
