bathtub-reglaze or replace

I used Gary Waugh at Waugh refinishing- he's in DC - the total bill for us was $450 or so for the reglazing plus $75 for something else (I forget) - great job - took from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM - brought in an industrial sized fan to minimize the fumes and we couldn't use it for 24 hours after he left at 1pm. He has a good rating on Washington Checkbook which is where I found him.

Reglazing is very stinky and often flakes of after a few years. If you replace the tub the tiles would get damaged and you may have a hard time finding matching one's so you may need to replace all the tiles. I would opt for replacement with a stainless steel porcelain tub and get extra tile so that you can just replace a single row or two of tile in the future.

We also used miracle method in Kensington, twice in different homes, and are very pleased. Our older home has the heavy tub and we thought the fiberglass option would feel cheap.

We just kept the original and remodeled around it.

sort of like an accent piece!

Reglazing is a pain. We reglazed our clawfoot tub (after concluding that it was way too expensive to replace), and there are all these conditions on maintaining it: no bathmats (!!), no standing water in the tub, no hard bathtoys, etc. They've already been out 2x to do touch-ups and repairs and each time they have a new rule. I joked with DH that we should just not put any water in it, and that should help.

Curious whom the PP in 2012 used who reglazed the tub and worked on her white tiles.

I had one reglazed but now it's showing a ring again as if paint came off. How to fix and whom?

Reglazing is terrible, who cares about a case iron tub

We have a 50's bluegreen/black tile shower and tile bathroom walls, so wondering if deglazing tile is any less cumbersome than doing a tub?
