I totally agree with this! |
a staple in our household growing up Now my kids "benefit" from my Italian upbringing!!! yum |
| Trader Joe's is amazing!!!!! |
| The whole foods peanut butter that you grind yourself--it's in the bulk aisle and there are usually a couple of tubs staff have preground. Has a very nice consistency and no oil slick on top--just whole peanuts ground up. |
| The Safeway organic brand is pretty good too. |
| OK--and for the plastic-phobic among us, any suggestions for PB that comes in a glass jar? |

We like Jif Natural PB. Probably not the best for you, but we like it.
Smuckers has a natural PB that comes in a glass jar. But it's the type you have to mix and it's more stereotypical natural PB and probably similar to the one that OP had a bad experience with before. |
Even better is the nature's promise cashew butter. I stopped eating peanut butter and tried almond butter for awhile but wasn't crazy about it. Then I saw that nature's promise makes a cashew butter so I tries that and it is divine. |
| Peter pan whipped pb |
| I have never eaten peanut butter. The smell makes me want to vomit. |
Very helpful for a thread about picking peanut butter. So I guess your recommendation is "none". Thanks for posting. |

Sweet Ella's (we bought it at Whole Foods)
It's made in Michigan--only has organic peanuts and sea salt. Delicious! http://www.amazon.com/Sweet-Ellas-Organic-Smooth-9-Ounce/dp/B002EMGINU |

Smart Balance:
http://www.foodfacts.com/NutritionFacts/Creamy/Smart-Balance-Creamy-Natural-Peanut-Butter-with-Omega-3-16-oz/30756 (I love this site BTW for checking out amounts of sugar, fat, etc. in my kids snacks.) Skippy brand rates a zero as it's second ingredient is SUGAR. |
| Jif. It's what I grew up with. My recipes even specify Jif peanut butter, for consistent results. In fact, I think all recipes calling for peanut butter need to specify the brand; there is much variation among brands. |
