Please you guys not all black parents in wards 5,6,7,8 should be labeled as bad parents who do not care about their childs education. We do! We want the same for our kids as any other parent. We have dreams for our kids like you do. I want a good school for my kid like you do. We are involved, we are motivated. Please stop labeling us and our kids as being lazy. Their are bad apples in every race. I am involved in my child's school and their are other black parents who are involved. This should not be about race. We should be uniting as parents to demand that dcps educate our children regardless of race. We should be upset that we have a limited amount of good schools and that parents are having to take to a website to voice their concerns. Sir and ladies this is not about race, rather it is about dcps doing what they are supposed to do. Making it into a racial issue takes away from what is important and that is a good school and quality teachers for all students. Ward 5 does not have an elementary school. I am fighting everyday because this is wrong on so many levels. So where do I send my child for middle school?
I didn't see a racial reference, but regardless I think it should be a middle school option for Ward 5! DCPS certainly hasn't provided one, so there's every reason we should use BASIS. Besides, it's got good red line access from the Brookland metro, it's hard to beat the convenience.
