can you say more? why do you only have one tube? |
|
One of my tubes did not open when I had an HSG done. My RE did not feel like that would cause any problems with pregnancy. Apparently fallopian tubes have the ability to grasp an egg from the opposite ovary.
Now, having said that, have one tube PLUS irregular ovulation might make the whole process more difficult. Or if there's unknown damage to a tube. But for women who are otherwise fertile, one tube apparently does not impair pregnancy. I have read that doctors like to treat a hydrosalpinx before IVF, though. Apparently the hydrosalpinx contains fluid that may enter the uterus and impair implantation. OP, what are your doctors at Shady Grove suggesting that you do? |
I had an ectopic pregnancy in which my left tube ruptured. I was advised to wait 2 cycles before ttc. I waited the 2 months and the first month I tried, I conceived but miscarried. I tried again the following month and conceived, unfortunately miscarried again. After the last miscarriage I decided to see an RE and had tons of bloodwork done, which came back normal. |

Hello All,
I would love to share this video with you all how a natural, hands-on therapy has had success in treating blocked fallopian tubes, hydrosalpinx, FSH, etc. Please feel free to share this video with others. http://www.clearpassage.com/videos/hydrosalpinx.php There is also a clinic in your area: http://www.clearpassage.com/dc-clinic.php Alishia Curtis Director of Public Relations Clear Passage Physical Therapy |
If OP finds value in this post, fine. Otherwise, I must make it known that I HATE it when people use DCUM threads as an advertising opportunity. I'll go out of my way NOT to patronize these places. |
| I agree. But I'm glad that Ms. Curtis at least acknowledged her affiliation. |

Hello All:
I had a ectopic pregnancy back in 2005 which resulted in a lost tube. I became pregnant in 2006 and also an ectopic however we caught it in time and treated it with medication. In Nov 2009 I became pregnant again and miracly it was in the uterus. I was able to hear a heart beat and see "spidey" in an ultrasound at only 6 weeks. However that was a miscarriage a week after the ultrasound. In summer of 2009 I ws diagnoses with hypothyroid which it is un control with medication. In April 2012 I started seeing a fertility specialist. They did blood work the same month a week before my next cycle and it showed low progesterone. My DR told me that b/c of that I did not ovulate therefore I will not get my period. They put me on Prog supplements and I got my period two days after it was suppose to be due. They also put me on Clomid on day three until day seven and scheduled an HSG on May 9. On May 10 they want me to start using ovulation detectors until OV shows positive and they want us to be active through out that time. They also plan to do moe blood work once I get + OV test. We will see I am nervous but excited than anything. All you can do is stay positive and CLAIM IT to the clouds lol

| I lost a tube due to an ectopic. After the surgery, I tried for 6 cycles on my own, 3 cycles with Clomid (which I hated), 1 cycle with Femara (much better). Our RE diagnosed me with "likely" tubal factors, although my remaining tube appeared open on the HSG. Stastically, he gave me a 1% chance of conceiving on my own, 5-7% (over three cycles) chance of conceiving with Femara/Clomid + IUI, and 70-80% chance with ivf. My insurance didn't cover any fertility treatments, so we decided to do one iui just to give the peace of mind that we tried the "cheap" option before moving to ivf. Lo and behold, I'm 11 weeks pregnant from that femara + ovidrel + iui. We have no idea why it worked, but I'm not sad about it! |
| I lost one tube due to surgery after an ectopic pregnancy. Got pregnant three times naturally after that. |
That's great! Congratulations! I will know this cycle what's up! This is my first cycle on clomid. |
Does HSG really unblock your tubes? I had a friend who lost a tube AND ovary due to ectopic. She tried for 5 years and never got pregnant. Finally she went to a fertility specialist, got an HSG, cycled her cycles and she was pregnant naturally three months after. So who knows maybe it just needed a "tune up" |
| I know someone who in her late 30s, after getting her tubes tied, got pregnant without trying, so miracles happen (or surprises anyway) |
| Went to do my HSG today and found out at that my only tube is still open! Great news for me. Now crossing fingers for future pregnancy. |

had a blocked tube and the next cycle after surgery I was pregnant naturally with twins
also have a coworker who had one functional tube and she was about to do IVF and they got pregnant naturally right before they were about to begin |
| I have a friend with only one tube who spent a very frustrating year doing IUIs. Basically, there were many months where she only was getting eggs on the wrong side, to they had to cancel the IUIs. So you may want to compare the cost of a year's worth of IUIS with one IVG. (She ended up getting pregnant on her own, 2.5 years after she started the whole process.) |
