To the pp who said that they are getting what they are worth, the teachers on that list are likely bad teachers who have figured out how to scam.

No, actually, looks like most of the people making this pay grade are into their 60s so they've probably had their jobs 35 years. No scam, just loyalty that deserves to be rewarded.

Seriously, how DARE you focus your ire on a public school teacher's salary when idiots on Wall Street are getting paid tens of millions to gamble with other people's money.

This. I can't believe people begrudge teachers making good salaries. And spare me the summers off. The majority of the teachers I've worked with over 20 years have summer jobs to make ends meet.

I also grew up in one of the districts on the list (Lake Forest) and one of the teachers is a science teacher (chemistry/physics), started in 1977 and has two master's degrees. The other wasn't "just a P.E" teacher -- yes. he was the wrestling coach. He was also the director of the vocational program (now called applied technology) and health and wellness programs. Yes, we can get into the whole 9th months equivalent to a whole year's salary business, but in this case both teachers had long standing careers with the school. And yes, Lake Forest is sufficiently affluent to tax and compensate its teachers well.
