No, just a fact that schools in that Cohort had to use a new accountability plan developed by the pcsb that was piloted last year. Sorry to ruin your conspiracy theory, troll.

What's the deal with Two Rivers? It's one of the better schools, but NEVER discussed on DCUM.

Why would any parent "wait" for their kid to get a quality education? Is learning Mandarin worth more to you than a "quality education"?

The list the PCSB put out is great. Many of the top performing schools are right in the same area. Not sure I follow your logic you think you are sacrificing your kid's education until 4th grade for Mandarin?

I remember it getting a lot of discussion here two years ago, when our family was first applying to lotteries. I'm not sure why it's fallen off the radar screen since. (Do folks still talk about the "Magnificent Seven" charter schools? TR was on that list...)

the washington post story today gives more explanation than the charter board press release

Not sacrificing. DC is already above grade level in English and Math so Mandarin is good to have especially since there is no G&T in DC.

Two Rivers lost over half of its fourth grade last year (did not re enroll for 5th ). A lot of those kids showed up in fifth grade at Washington Latin. Not sure what is going in, though. Maybe since the middle school scored don't seem to be separated out, things go south in the upper grades? Just a guess.

They were listed as one the top schools. I did not look at the breakdown but from the article, they did not seem to be hurt by the 4th grade exodus.

I was just curious as to why I haven't seen much participation on DCUM by Two Rivers parents. They certainly don't use DCUM to boost enrollment.

Still not following the logic: Why would you wait for quality education.?

?? The quality is more than adequate and exactly what we want in the lower grades. Knowing Mandarin is very important for our family. We chose YY over two top private schools always mentioned on the private school board where DC got accepted. It's the only public school lottery we entered and was our first choice. DH and I both only attended private schools from K on up so that tells you how much we want Mandarin. However, not so sure about upper so we'll be going private for 4th onwards. What's so hard to understand? We got the best "fit" for our family.
