The type of shirt you are describing would be a t shirt, if he needs something fancy to hang out with his buddies and drink he is gay.

LOL, this made me laugh.

Probably Eddie Bauer or Lands End for my DH. Though, he's mostly wearing T-shirts to hang out with the neighbors.

My husband goes for polo shirts, and lately he's liked ones from Banana Republic. Used to buy J.Crew ones but they seem to be getting a ton of holes in the wash.

Filenes is going out of business??? I need to get out more.

To answer op's question: gap (tees) and brooks brothers.

His "casual" shirts are either short-sleeved polos or long-sleeved button-front shirts. Brands/sources include:

Gap
J.Crew
Boden
Charles Tyrwhitte (sp???)
Lands End
LL Bean
Ralph Lauren (usually from Ross, Marshalls, or similar)
Brooks Brothers

A lot of his polo shirts are from events though with something embroidered on the side.

How's the quality of their dress shirts? Do they hold up well after several months of laundering?

My husband has gotten a few casual button-downs from Lands End Canvas that have become favorites.

Why would I buy my DH shirts?

Vineyard Vines. He used to buy Jcrew but they were too thin and his bony elbow would always tear the shirt after a few months. DH is by no means gay but he wears a collared shirt 7 days a week, he def likes to look good. Other than going to the gym I don't think there is any reason to wear a tshirt around

Tell that to John Varvatos. (And several other designers.)

For the same reason my husband takes out the garbage instead of me - sure, I'm capable of doing it too, but I'd rather someone else do it. He feels the same way about shopping, plus it's easier to make one big order with things for everyone in the family together rather than a bunch of separate purchases. Lately he's been happy with Banana Republic's polos - J.Crew's quality seems to have gone downhill recently.

Oh brother!

15:47 yes I know there are some very nice t-shirts but they don't really look good on DH body type. Makes him look scrawny. a simple button down untucked looks a lot better. Personal preference

Seriously! My goodness, from this thread it looks like 95 percent of the husbands of DCUMs don't shop for themselves. Can that be true?

Amen. He buys his own shirts at Banana Republic mostly.

Ha! I was thinking the same thing! I've bought a shirt for DH once in 10 years, for a gift. He has never bought me any clothing item (nor would I want him to!).
