Personalized License Plates

So uncool. Sorry but you should remember there will be people out there like me who will judge you. You won't know who they are (eg could be DC's classmate's parent, neighbor, etc) so make sure you are comfortable with that. For my part, it screams ego trip and I would wonder why the person didn't give the money to a worthy cause rather than such a vanity project.

I'm sorry, I think they're unbelievably cheesy! It's the equivalent of giving yourself a nickname and insisting everyone in your circle call you that. I see them a LOT up here though which is surprising given how appearance driven this area is. If you're going to have a $70,000 car to prove you can afford a $70,000 car, why then go put a "DR KOOOL" plate on it??

They are a mix of my name and what I do.

I think depending on what you put on them, is either cool or stupid/cheesy.

i.e. if you have a 95 camaro, and your plate says 95camaro = stupid!

Lemme guess:

[NAME/INITIALS] ESQ

Ha! And her other car says "BIGLAW"

Get something funny!

Like earrings and necklaces?

I dunno - I've seen some REALLY good plates...like the mini-van that had the license plate "PIGSFLEW".

And I didn't quote it, but I disagree that the the license plate is only for other drivers. I think it can definitely be for the person driving...I put my kid in the back seat then walk around the back to get to the drivers seat. Which means if I had a personalized plate I could glance at it and smile at whatever memory prompted the personalization.

just my $.02

I have one that reads I8A4RE

I think they can go either way. If theyre clever, great.

My husband's cousin had one that said "whatever" on it (I don't remember how it was spelled exactly). She ran into David Spade in a parking lot and he complimented her on the plate!

Hey, if you like 'em, get one. Who the F cares what others think. When you agree with them, get rid of it. Don't overthink everything and enjoy life.

I think they're stupid, personally.

We often laugh about them, actually. The more ironic or nonsensical the better.

I only think they are cool if they are like the one I saw in Georgetown this summer "HBIC"

Considering adding a "subtitle" to the nameplate outside my office.

A colleague has one that says OMGRTFM. Go figure, engineer. I saw a Fairfax Cty cop with one on her personal car that said ALWYSL8.

DH has one, not related to work or education.

I've contemplated but can't commit.

I don't really care. If I figure it out, cute. if I can't, it's stupid. If it's your name, that's just lame.

What, you couldn't get your hands on a tennis ball?
