My 7mth old baby rolled off the bed!!!!!!!!!

Our DS (when he was about 18 mos) was so excited to show DH the moon outside that he walked off the steps to our sidewalk without realizing it, and fell face first on the concrete. We both could have caught him and didn't.

I also fell walking up the stairs with him (brilliant), and DH wasn't paying attention and let him roll off the couch.

Mine rolled off at six months and I felt like the worst mother ever. Freaked out, called doctor; nurse said she gets these calls every day. I was a nervous wreck for a few days, but it passed.

Always call your doc when you are concerned, but you are definitely not a terrible mother!!!--it happens!!!

My DD is 2.5, still remember the thunk sound when she fell from our sofabed onto the hardwood floor at this exact age (7 mos).

On her back, she was right next to me asleep, I had a cold and dozed off for 10 min, during which she woke up and managed to roll herself off the bed.

I was calm because I needed to be. Looked up falls on Dr Sears website, learned that her immediate cry was good. Considered taking her to the emergency room, then remembered you are not supposed to let folks with possible concussion fall asleep, too afraid she would sleep in car seat. Kept her up for an hour, then let her nurse and she fell asleep. I put her in her crib, sat down and started trembling and crying, couldn't stop for 2 hours.

She fared much better than I did, which my doc says is usually the case with 1st falls -- worse for the parent than the child!

It happened to us at 7 months, too. Totally typical. It sucks, but it's a parenting milestone. Don't worry OP, it is fine!

DD fell off the couch onto hardwood floors at 2 weeks. She kick-extended her until-then froggied legs and launched herself off, somehow landing on her tummy. It was the day of her 2-week appointment, where I fessed up, and the doctor said she was fine.

I'm not going to try to make you feel better. You did something that was really dumb. It can happen to the best of us but I can't imagine hopping on DCUM with my "bad mother" story and asking for others' to make myself feel better. Why don't you just learn your lesson and not put your baby on a bed again like that. I hope she's strapped down someplace safe while you're posting.

My DD fell down the stairs at 13 months. I forgot to lock the baby gate and the time it took me to make coffee, she had climbed up the stairs and thrown herself down. She was fine. I was very rattled.

My baby rolled right off the bed at 5 months. Onto a hardwood floor. Horrible thud.

Sorry you had to go through that OP, but it seems like everyone has a story similar!

My daughter rolled off the ottoman at 3 months. I had just walked away for 5 seconds. I didn't actually see her fall, but I heard it. The screaming was awful (silent for what seemed like the longest time.) She was OK but I felt horrible for days. I didn't even sleep for a couple days because I was worried about her sleeping or not sleeping or whether she had some crazy head injury. She was fine. Glad your baby is too. It's scary.

My 8 month old has fallen out of her seat twice in the past 2 weeks and landed directly on her face on the hardwood floor. Her little seat came unfastened somehow. She is oK< but screamed and had a bruise.

My solution was, I put my kids on the floor. They can't fall off the floor.

My son fell off the bed at 10 months old. It was awful, I hated myself that day. Because I am a single mom, I am really hard on myself about stuff like that.
