Do preschools really ban shirts with licensed characters?

Not to be snarky but I think you just need to ask your kid's school what they allow. Who cares what other schools do? Are you in any way basing your preschool decision on whether your kid can wear a Buzz Lightyear outfit to school?

This was me, and I was totally rude for no reason. I apologize. It's not your fault I'm tired and cranky. Please disregard.

I'm the PP from the other thread and yes, our kids went to a Waldorf preschool where clothing with licensed characters on it was not permitted.

My children go to an elite preschool (gag!). No ban on licensed charaters on shirts. They do ask that children wear clothes they aren't afraid to get dirty. They reported they have children who do not participate because they are afraid to ruin their nice clothes. This struck me as extremely sad, so you know my kids are the one's sporting the star wars and hello kitty shirts!

What is an "elite" preschool and how is this relevant to the conversation?
