Brussel sprouts have been my favorite vegetable since I was a kid, and I'm 40. Grew up in the mid-west. ALways been a thanksgiving/christmas staple. We now par boil them, and then add them to a le creuset with bacon and cook on the stove top, throw them in the oven and drizzle lemon juice at the end to finish. parfait!

We are going to roast them with maple syrup. Yum!

This year I am slicing the garlic BIG to go with the Brussels sprouts. This is going to be grand. Happy Thanksgiving, everysprout!
For everyone roasting, pray for good weather, so you can open the windows and air out the house. I LOVE me some sprouts, but roasting them makes the whole place stink to high heaven.
Oh, I love the Brussels sprouts smell.
I pop them in the cast iron with the left behind bacon grease (from breakfast) and sautee them to get them started then let them finish in the oven. Yum!

Also my favorite vegetable. We always ate them at thanksgiving-my dad is English so maybe thats why. Just steamed. DH ate them as well growing up, but his mom makes them in this overly sweet brown sugar sauce with pecans. It's a waste of good sprouts if you ask me.
This year we are having them shredded and sautéed with bacon. To die for! |
