Wilson High/Overcrowded Future?

Dear 3rd year Teach for America teacher,

If you are so worried about retaliation that you wouldn't post your name, why did you include this information about yourself? Seems like the field might get narrowed down pretty easily . . .

Grade changing accusations were never elevated to scandal. Hence Tarason was hired as principal within the surrounding counties and Bonner promoted to Assistant Superintendent. That talk about grade-changing amongst principals is almost a badge-of-honor did we not have that same accusation at McKinley? I am safe to say that principal is still in place and nothing could finer at McKinley Tech.

Everything that is reported in the Washpo is not of scandal status.

Those who disrespect Mr. Cahall also disrespect teachers and in general do not "do school" the way people did in an earlier era. For many, the ethos is a D is enough, thanks, quality is not important, and some teachers have been told, "You can't fail but a certain percentage of students" so packs are formed in some instances not to work.
DCPS does not hold students accountable through standardized tests tied to graduation, and since too many failures impact a teacher's evaluation, well, then, all any teacher would have to do is curve the grades.
Mediocrity, thus, is encouraged by such practices in the sytem.
Those who point the fingers too much at administrators and teachers would not last one week in DC schools...even at Wilson.

PP:: You nailed it. Never stop talking about this, you've got exactly the right number here on DCPS. weak and strong.

Can Wilson survive if the blacks are removed to ease over-crowding?

If you think about it, that process almost guarantees you with an age appropriate freshmen class. I do believe other than having an application only process, you can't beat the deal Eastern has secured. You better, go girl!!! That Boston savvy paid off.

What does that mean, exactly?

Just guessing but it was assumed that Eastern was only enrolling first time 9th graders. Which meant no transfers or over-aged 9th graders. I am pretty sure that theory didn't last as it was not fair to those unfortunate students who lived within boundaries of Eastern. After the male principals confided to the male instructional superintendent they convinced central office that it was not fair.

So as of now students who are 9th graders who are out of boundary and not conforming at their current school are transferred to their neighborhood school as in Eastern.

I think that is unfair to blame all the problems at Wilson on black students as some writers seem to sugguest. My boyfriend, who is a mpd police officer was assigned to wilson. He shared many stories of white kids dealing and using drugs at school. Now perhaps the problems that black kids present with are different. Regardless of race kids in general have problems.

I suspect the poster you're responding to was just a troll.

Okay... so Eastern is not, in fact, being treated any differently from any other HS. If I understand you correctly.

Not now but it was every intent to have Eastern's 9th graders to be exclusive. I must say it was the persistence of the other high schools saying "hell no" Eastern needs to take back their own knuckleheads. As well as the charter schools who were kicking out their 9th grade juvenile delinquents back to Ramblerville.

When anyone uses the term "the blacks", I know you don't know any. Give me a break.

Someone needs to know blacks to be validated. What is this? I am wondering about the whites at Wilson. Ooops, I have shown my ace of spades card, sorry!!! And yes, I don't know any whites.
