Commute from Kensington on MARC?

Yes, you can cross the tracks at the station. There is parking both north and south of the tracks at the station too.

Being able to walk to Safeway, MARC, three parks with playgrounds and Noyes Children's Library is great. You can't find a mix of walkability, easy access to parks and bike paths and access to public transportation anywhere else in the area in such a peaceful setting. There's a reason it's impossible to get a house in the Town of Kensington east of Connecticut Ave - no one ever wants to move.

I sound like a townie but +1

We moved a few years ago and really love it so far with two small kids. It is possible to find houses but they do tend to go very fast (similarly to many area neighborhoods).

Kensigton has a great small town feel- parades, Santa on a fire truck, farmers market, fireworks on the 4th. You don’t have to be in the town of Kensington to enjoy all that the neighborhood has to offer. We commute from grovesnor to Farragut north and it’s easy to find parking at that metro. You can also park at Wheaton or forest Glen if you’re on that side of the red line for work.

We moved to North Kensington a few years ago and love it for our 3 and 5 year old! I've commuted by MARC, Metro (Wheaton), and car... and prefer Metro to get down to Penn Quarter (although parking at MARC is free compared with Metro). We have an au pair for childcare and it's worked out well for us - there are a lot of au pairs/nannies in the neighborhood and a bunch of amazing preschools. Most of the families moving into our neighborhood have preschool-aged kids or babies - it's a lovely community even if you're not in the "most desirable" parts of Kensington

And there’s a farmers market in the south side parking lot on Saturday. You can park in the north lot and walk across the tracks for that too.
