Private & Independent Schools
| Not so misguided, in my opinion. |
Fully agree. For instance, WIS has not only national but even international recognition (and not simply because of the adjective in its name) |
| Which would fit your CHILD the best? I have found Sidwell to be a bit TOO liberal (hence creating some REALLY entitled kids), but I would not be surprised if GDS were the same. If your family values are grounded and real at home, are you really going to be threatened by some SUV's? Please...you live in this city, you know the game... |
| GDS is more liberal and permissive than Sidwell, IMO. |
|
I agree with the PP.
And the SUV thing is overblown. In order to carpool, given the requirement for booster seats, you need something with three rows. That leaves you with either a Volvo, Mercedees or an SUV. I personally won't buy either of the former, and am not happy to have an SUV and will ditch it as soon as it dies, as by then, I won't need it anymore. |
What is the logic by which liberalness leads to entitlement? |
| Not the PP, but maybe he/she meant too liberal as is thinking anything is fine (and no rules apply), which could create a sense of entitlement for kids to always do/have whatever they want. |
| Neither Sidwell nor GDS struck me that way. Both schools seem to try to cultivate a strong sense of social responsibility. That may be politically liberal but not liberal in the sense of "anything goes." Actually, if anything, in casual encounters the kids at the Cathedral schools have tended to strike me as more "entitled." |
| Seems like all threads lead to the Cathedral... |
What about (horrors) a minivan? |
