Mountain lions used to span the country. But farmers and ranchers plus hunters blasted them out of existence except for the west, where eradication is impossible due to the terrain and the population.
But they have been repopulating from west to east over recent decades. We started seeing them in the midwest when I was a kid, and it was strange to us too. The good thing is that they are very shy creatures. Of course the scary thing is that for every one you see there are a bunch that you don't. At night they roam populated areas. Some scientists did a study where they tagged some and were shocked at how they went in an out of residential communities. |
Saw this poster in gp. I read that mountain lions are attracted to areas with flower boxes.
