To compete with the Kindle Fire and Nook Color. It's supposed to be similar in size and cost. I know it's easy for most people on this board to drop $500 without thinking twice, but not for me. I would feel much more comfortable with something in the $200 price range, even if it doesn't do as much. |
| I love my ipad2. Wouldnt be without it. I use it to read, watch movies, play games, read email..everything. |
| OP here. Glad to see more thoughts on this! For basic reading (assuming I'll spring for the iPad for the fam; e-reader for me), is the basic model of the Nook or Kindle sufficient? Or would you go for the high cost option that does more even though your main intention is reading? |
Get the Kindle Touch or nook Simple Touch for sure. I wouldn't pay more for 3G if you've got wireless connections readily available -- home, stores, work, hotels, etc. |
| I have a Nook color that we just turned into an android tablet by rooting it with an N2A card. So in total we paid less than $350 to have the best of both worlds. We can even now get a kindle app to run on the Nook. |
I just went with a plain nook because i just wanted to use it to read. I have computers and an iphone if i feel like mindlessly surfing the web or emailing, and so i just didn't need/want that on my nook. |
