Do you use the men's restroom?

Once, when my fussy 8 month old was not-so-patiently waiting I actually used a multiple-stall men's room that was completely empty (there was a BIG line for the women's room.) Anyway, one guy came in as I was leaving and I didn't even get a weird look from him.

I think restaurants with 2 one-stall bathrooms should just put uni-sex signs on the door. Help women feel less weird about using both.

the thing is, i bet women would not be so happy if it were a man using a women's room like that. not that our restrooms are every empty...

Three women waiting, one man exited. So I gestured to the vacant restroom, sort of an "anyone?" query? One woman said in a "duh" tone of voice, "that's the men's room". I shrugged, went in, peed, and was out before the first woman in line had her turn. A different waiting woman looked a little shocked.

Is this so weird? They were one-holers, not stalls. It was clean enough. It was vacant. What would you have done-- gone ahead, or waited behind three other women for "your" restroom?

Do you live in the suburbs? This barely merits a raised-eyebrow in almost any part of the city. Heck, I'm a DH, and I use the women's room if it's free.

That was probably me.

Usually they put all the kids' products (changing table, step-stool, etc...) in the Women's Room. DD is using the bathroom; I'm just accompanying her.

Yes, why not.

Never.

I wouldn't even give it a second thought in the scenario you provided since it was not a designated women's/men's room. I think people who think this is weird are weird.

OP here. Glad to hear I didn;t commit some giant faux pas, and just ran across a couple of people with weird hangups.

Oh, and I do live, work and recreate in the city (I do it all. the. time. in bars, but this was more of a family venue), and the restrooms WERE designated men's and women's. One each.

I am a woman and honestly, I would not give a crap, I mean, we are all there to pee or take a dump, so who cares. However, I agree that most women would have a problem if it was the other way around. All of a sudden, that guy would be labeled a pervert.

I remember going to a store and they had a man and womans bathroom, both multiple-stall type. My son had to pee and poop really bad and the womans bathroom was freaking gross, literally, poop everywhere. Thinking quickly, my son had to either poop on the womans bathroom floor or go to the mens room. I took my son (who was 3) into the mens room with me and we went to use the bathroom there. Men were in their using the bathroom and I have no idea if they were upset or not, because I did not stare at them (at least not in their eyes) so I hurried up and exited with my son.

Men don't care, use the bathroom. Even if they are in there I am sure they wouldn't mind having their junk hanging out in front of a woman!

A spin on it:
I (female) was in a gay bar (almost entirely men) and there was a restroom (with a stall and urinals) for the men, and a unisex bathroom for both. So as a female, I had to wait longer....because men in front of me in line could use either bathroom, but I had to wait for the single room unisex bathroom.

...seemed very unfair, even if the bar was aimed at men.

I have. And if my son needs to use it, but needs help, I dont hesitate a bit.

Also, I use it when I am at a place - like the Reston zoo during the week, that is dominated by women and kids. Its so silly to have an empty bathroom and a line for one.

Unless you're a Saudi (no college towns, though), I think you meant "misdemeanor".
