| We eloped and got married in Fiji. There was a coup d'etat the day after we arrived, and the country kind of shut down. We were at a tiny resort on its own island so it didn't seem to matter at first - although no guests could arrive (and no one there could leave!) Most of what we had planned for our wedding got cancelled because it was supposed to come in from other islands. But we had a great time, a simple ceremony and a lot of fun watching to news and wondering when we'd how long we'd be "stuck" in paradise. |

DH cried during the ceremony (I didn't- I'm not a crier and he usually isn't either, but I thouhgt it was so sweet that his eyes welled up as I walked down the aisle and he took my hands).
Our ring bearer was doing the I-need-to-pee dance up at the alter until he couldn't stand it any more and ran down to his grandmother. |
My sari unraveled during my wedding reception. Not as interestin as the olympic torch, a power outage, or a coup, but it was something

Let's see. I was 32 weeks pregnant and wearing a red velvet maternity dress.
DH had a very hard time breaking the wine glass/lite bulb. It took him 3 tries. |
| We were married in a castle, and both my dad and step-dad walked me down the aisle. |
| Our caterer baked the cake while we were saying our vows. |
| Our best man didn't arrive until we were saying our vows. |
| I was a flower girl for my moms wedding. After dropping all the flowers I went back to pick them all up. |
| My cousin is holding a Halloween-themed wedding. The invitations were delivered in little coffins, and guests are rquested to appear in costume. Pretty strange, I think. |
| Our best man had a easily noticeable, new gash on his cheekbone where a stripper had kicked him the day before with her stiletto heel from the stage. |
| Our wedding was officiated by both of our clergyman fathers. Half was in Dutch, half in English. |
| I was at the wedding of the daughter of my mother's friend -- minister referred to the bride as the "little helper" and said a whole lot of other things that made it clear that the woman was not an equal partner. My parents had to basically restrain me from putting my hand up when they asked if anyone had any objections. |
You win. Done and done. |

1) I'm NOT an emotional touchy feely kind of person and I cried during the ceremony. My husband was shocked and teases me about it to this day.
2) I was standing outside the closed chapel doors waiting to enter with my father. I turned to him and said "I have to go pee." He said "No, not right now you dont." I didnt go....it went away. 3) After the ceremony we were taking pictures in the chapel and I realize my mom is not wearing the dress we picked out for her. She's wearing a dress the same color as the bridesmaids. 4) After we entered the reception hall and were seated, the officiant grabbed the microphone and asked us to come to the center of the dancefloor to get our marriage license. It was like a weird graduation/marriage diploma handoff - completely weird. |
| At my friends wedding. Their 5 year old daughter was upset. She did not like that the priest did not ask her if she would also love mommy |
