Curious re. which cultures kiss kids on lips

I'm from the midwest and my whole family kisses on the lips - grandparents with grandkids, moms and childrens, uncles and nieces . . . everyone. No big deal.

My family has always done this and never thought anything about it. I grew up in Maryland.

Yknow, I thought I'd be weirded out about it. Then I would kiss my son on the cheeks. He'd grab my face and kiss me on the mouth.

My family is from good ole Washington, DC, and we've always kissed each other on the lips. You should see how DD puckers up.

I'm from South America and some families do it there but it grosses me out!

My 3 year old DD loves to kiss me on the lips. I'm not sure where she gets it, I always kiss her on the cheeks. She gives me these sloppy wet kisses on the lips sometimes as I'm tucking her in - but it's my DD so it's cute. Figure in a few years she won't want to kiss me at all.

I'm Hungarian and growing up we only kissed on the cheek. But here I do kiss both of my kids on the lips and it feels right. So does this American father who grew up on the East coast.

I kiss my kids on the lips until they hit puberty. Who knows where their lips have been after that. Gross, no thanks. I make them hi-5 me.

Kiss on the lips. I even make my tweeny boy do that even though he tries not to.

How can you not kiss their baby lips?

You'll see the drama queen when your kid gets her/his first herpes ulcer on the lips. I repeat: GROSS!

I've sucked my husband's privates... Even though I've brushed after that I don't want that stuff on my baby's lips. Thank You!

I almost fainted when I saw my nanny kissing my child on the lips. I asked her not to do that anymore and she was fine with it. God knows where her mouth has been. Yuck!

Never had a herpes ulcer and I am 40. None of my kids have had one either.

But I think you are right. If you get them then you really shouldn't be kissing ANYONE!

I'm Chinese, but born and raised in Calif. I've been kissing 2 yr old DD on lips since she learned to kiss back. It's the sweetest now that she can make the little smacking noise. =)

You know you don't need to get the ulcers to be a carrier of the virus, right? Someone didn't do their bio readings...
