house renters: what's your rent and where do you live?

Townhouse in Springfield. $1450 for about 1200 sq ft. We want a bigger place but don't want to spend more money right now. We will continue to rent until we save a down payment to buy a house and know where we want to live.

3BR, 2BA renovated rowhouse with finished basement in Capitol Hill east for $2300. Very happy here. Wish the middle schools were better - we would buy here if they were.

We moved this summer. We were renting a 1BR/Ba +den in Pentagon City for $2100 w/ 2 parking spaces, pool, gym and 3 blocks from Metro.

We closed on a 3br/1ba that needs some work (i.e. another bathroom!) in Kensington for $300k. Our mortgage is significantly less than our rent w/ what we put down, but we've been doing work on the house. A neighbor on our block right now is renting a house that is exactly the same as ours for $2500.

2000 sq ft 3 bed/2bath fully renovated home with a huge front and back yard in Fairfax Cty Alexandria (walking distance to Old Town) - $3100. We love the house and would buy it in a second. I'm sure the owners are making a killing on our rent (we were one of 4 applicants for the property on the day it listed)--it was so nice that we were willing to pay more to live somewhere comfortable and clean while we look for something to buy.

Similar homes sell for over $1M. We would love to buy this home, but are not sure how many years we'll be here (job reasons) so this is the best choice for now.

Wow. Ward 3 DC is such a scam.
