Treme
Dexter Good Wife (The weekly court cases are crap, but the character development and larger story arcs are pretty great over time.) |
| The Office, both the British (darker) and American versions. |
|
Dexter
Lost MI5 (BBC show) |
| Homicide: Life on the Streets was done by some of the same folks as The Wire. Amazing acting. Great stories. Tailed off in later seasons but first 4 or 5 were amazing. |
|
I know some of these have been mentioned:
Deadwood Sons of Anarchy The Shield MI5 Justified Damages Rescue Me and for lighter fare, Keen Eddie |
| Second Justified. |
|
Battlestar Gallactica -- the 2003 version.
Mad Men |
|
Battlestar Gallactica
The Tudors Mad Men Sons of Anarchy |
I could have written this list - add Dexter to it. |
|
Lost
Deadwood Breaking Bad Weeds |
Deadwood requires a lot of concentration. Despite all of the cursing, a lot of the dialogue is very subtle. It would take me well over an hour to watch each hour, with all the rewinding. |
This was my problem with Deadwood. I had just gotten my first Tivo when it first came out and don't think I could have ever watched the show without it. |
|
My list:
The Shield Deadwood Justified Sopranos Dexter Six Feet Under Mad Men Damages Breaking Bad Carnivale |
Forgot about that! Everyone who loves the Wire should Netflix the first seasons of Homicide. |
| This is ridiculous! I would really love to watch Spiral but how can Americans access this show? The BBC content is not available if you play it straight and access the site from the U.S. I don't see it on Neflix or itunes. Amazon has the DVDs but only in Region 2 format. Blast! I speak fluent French so would watch the show (and even prefer to see it) in its original version. Any tips? |
