Purell wipes on kids' hands?

Hand sanitizers work best when you start with clean hands. The alcohol won't kill germs if you hands already have grease or dirt on them.

SO first, wash hands with soap and water. THEN apply the hand sanitizer.

Wow who knew this was so controversial. I use WetOnes because my DD had caught pink eye 4 times this past year and I was convinced that it was from rubbing her eyes on the walk home. Once we started using wet ones as soon as we left the daycare building, we haven't had a pink eye incident. We still wash hands with soap and water as soon as we get home, but seriously if this is causing asthma, I'd rather have pink eye than a breathing issue. Is there some literature on this causing asthma (my googling turned up nada)?
