I've seen the new place of GAP in Upshur street, teachers are very kind and caring, the building and the new location is very good but what I don't like to deal with is the male administrator!!! He is very rude and can't speak nice to people even to answer the phone he is so rude!!! OSSE should know about this. This person must be reported!!! He must not work in a daycare!!! Go there and try to find out!!!

You are definitely and positively right!!! The man who assisted us yesterday doesn't know how to speak nicely to clients. We are about to put in all needed documents that they need but when I spoke to this man who introduced himself as the assistant director named schek or whatever his name is.. I decided not to continue with them!!! He is soooooooo rude and doesn't know how to talk to people. I felt embarrassed of what he said yesterday!!!You will not have children because one of your people don't know how to talk to people most specially clients! If he spoke to me like that what more to my child and to other children!!!!How can you market your daycare center if you have the wrong person on your desk!!! To the executive directress I am letting you know that you have nasty administrator! He should not be in that position you need to hire good people that knows how to respect other people of different culture!!! He should not be in a daycare!!!!He is not a good influence not a good leader and not even a good example!!! You are marketing a diverse community but do you know that one of your people is not diverse as you think!!!! BAD person!!!!

My daughter has been going here for a year and has moved up 2 classes. All of her teachers have been wonderful and my daughter loves it. She's happy to run in everyday I drop her off and is in a great mood when I pick her up. Even the male administrator people are talking about is a little bit quiet, but I would not say rude. My daughter (who is 2 and a half) says hi and bye to him everyday and he is always so sweet to her. She comes home saying more words than the day before and I'm happy with the projects they do. I would recommend this daycare.

The physical environment is awful. During lunch, teacher don' t have meaningful conversation with the children and the pre-k don't have a carpet for circle time and they lack a daily schedule which is a NAEYC requirement. Durining my visit, there wasnt any display od the children's work which is also a NAEYC mandate. Whats more, the turn over is high and they are usually staffed by a local agency. These individuals usually lack the qualifications to beposition. They are simply bodies in the room who educate the "whole" child. In regards to leadership, they are very dishonest and unprofessional. Keep in mind NAEYC centers sometimes perform at their best during reaccredidation which is every 5 years. The rooms lack furniture and developmentally appropriate materials and the environment encourages running due to the open space. Please feel free to research what NAEYC describes as "high quality" and make a comparison to GAP. The proof is in the pudding. It is nothing more than a cash cow for the CEO.

How can one teach cognitive conceots without the materials. There arent any materials for sorting, patterns, or sink and float activities. These materials enciurage high order thinking in children and they promote metacognition. The center does bot have enough materials to teach half of rhe skills outlined in the DC early learning standards. In terms of health and safety, there is a foul odor and I observed the children not washing there hands after coming from outside and beforw lunch. Handwashing is essential in early learning programs. NAEYC has an ethical hotline on their site.
